I’ve been absent. I needed some grieve-time. Thanks so much for all the warm wishes and kind condolences–they did not go unnoticed, although they may have gone unanswered.I’m back now. Feeling a little more together and less weepyshakey. I feel more like myself, but still a little “off”. I have been working a great deal to save $$ for the house that we’re supposedly purchasing–we’ve been burned before so I won’t believe it until someone hands us the keys. And even then I may not believe it until our first propane bill. Perhaps we can forgo paying for heat if we just set up a yurt in the yard. Have I mentioned the yard? Anyways, the extra work is a nice distraction. Being on vacation is even nicer. 12 hospital-free days. Ahhh…some peace.

The underlying story of this video will have little meaning to non-L&D-nurse-types, so I won’t get into it (Dawn, you just wouldn’t believe me if I told you…or perhaps you would) but suffice it to say that it shouldn’t have happened.

Oh my!! The patient is already on the table and NO doctors or other nurses are even there. Did you ever find out what the hell was up?

The yard is GORGEOUS!! I’d have bought any old house sitting on that property!. Congrats!

Is there a house on that yard or will you just be living in the yurt?

Where is this dream space you are moving to? Looks great!

Yeah, the whole thing with no doctors around is screwed up. That makes me want to avoid surgery at all costs, as if that hadn’t been an underlying goal for all my life.

hey you beat me to the punch!!

I’ve been thinking of doing a work based post. I was going to tape myself doing a work phone call and cut out everything but the work specific jargon. but, you’re in there with a nice work post. odd to see somebody else’s operating room. thanks

I am glad to see you back and that you are feeling a bit better.

I am hesitant to watch the video;I am a scaredy cat when it comes to things related to medicine and doctors, etc. In fact, the still image of you is scaring me ;)
And the fact that it might invovle L&D is even more scary. But you wouldn’t post anything work related here, right?….Tell me if it’s safe.

Yeah, I remember my rotation in L&D as a student. Sit around and watch a monitor and titrate some contaction med. Think it was called pitocin or something. Give me the knife and gun club…aka the ER!

I am not a nurse, but I have given birth to 3 babies, and am intensely curious as to why the hell you are alone with a patient who appears to be ready to go? The only time I was alone with a nurse, after I was fully prepped and good to go, was when the other nurse ran out to see where the hell the DR had gotten off to.

Maybe it’s midwifery training. LOL. I had to admit that the first thought that went through my head when I saw the “baby warmer” was those Salton hot trays that used to keep your food warm, or the bun warmer that comes attached to a Forman grill. But then I have an odd imagination.

B’s back!!!! Yeah, all is good with the world again! Happy, Happy joy, joy!! You make me feel like a natural ……man….. :) I heard through the grapevine that you are getting a house. If you need some Help let me know. You know what they say, Every rose has it’s thorn. I know, I know you are thinking I think I am Mr. Big Stuff, well All I have to do is dream……

Ok, I really have NO idea why I did all that name game stuff…but regardless, I am glad you are back B… ;)

Why do I think this is funny? I guess it’s b/c I’m doing my L/D rotation next week. Are you really understaffed? I know you’ve had equipment constraints but the staffing?

I’m glad the patient is not alone!
